Sudarshan Yellamaraju Age and Early Life
Sudarshan Yellamaraju was born on July 9, 2001, making him 25 years old as of September 28, 2026.
He was born in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The family migrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada, when he was four years old. Migration influenced his life and golf career as even though he was born in India, he learned to play in Canada, representing it professionally.
Initially, his exposure to golf was modest. He practiced using plastic clubs and balls and hit range balls using equipment rented in an indoor golf dome. He also watched professional golfers playing with his father in videos. He attended a junior golf camp after acquiring a set of golf clubs.
The family moved once again when he was eleven years old, residing in the Toronto area. During this period, Yellamaraju improved himself in playing golf and attended Stephen Lewis Secondary School in Mississauga. Instead of following the conventional path of playing college golf in the United States, he eventually decided to become a professional.
Did Sudarshan Yellamaraju Learn Golf on YouTube?
Yes, partly. Yellamaraju and his father watched videos of golfers like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, analyzed their swings, and used them in combination with his own practice and experimentation.
It is true that he is called a self-taught golfer, but it would be incorrect to say that watching videos made him a professional golfer. Besides, he had been playing golf and improving his game by practicing and competing with others for many years.
Family and His Father’s Influence
His father, Suresh, is actively involved in the career of his son in golf. Both of them watched videos of golf tournaments while Sudarshan was growing up, and his father helped him to reach places where he could practice and play.
Early involvement in the game of golf is not related to attendance of any elite golf academy or full-time swing coaching. This father-son participation is one of the reasons why the career of Yellamaraju is interesting. In the PGA Tour level, it is rare to hear about the player who explains his knowledge of the basics of his swing by watching videos and practicing.
Yellamaraju kept private most of his family life. Information about his mother and siblings is scarce, so these details cannot be filled with guesses.
Sudarshan Yellamaraju Wife or Girlfriend
There is no confirmation from Sudarshan Yellamaraju about having a wife or girlfriend in the available reliable information. His relationship status should be described as either private or unconfirmed.
It doesn’t mean that he is single. On the contrary, it means only that there is no reason to name any of his partners or state that he is married.

Before becoming a professional, Yellamaraju became a strong young amateur golfer in Canada. At the age of 16, he won the Ontario Amateur Championship.
Many good golfers develop their game through college programs and compete during the studying period. Yellamaraju took a different path. He became a professional at the age of 19 after graduating from high school and spending a year gap year.
As a result, he started his education of professional circuits without experience in college golf shared by many PGA Tour players. His development was gradual and he initially played in the PGA Tour Canada before joining the Korn Ferry Tour and eventually becoming a PGA Tour member.
Professional Golf Career
Learning on Developmental Tours
Yellamaraju turned pro in 2021. The young man gained experience competing with other professionals who were trying to improve their skills and achieve success in the professional league.
Yellamaraju got a chance to play on the Korn Ferry Tour and earn PGA Tour card by winning at least one event on the developmental tour. However, it was not easy to play successfully and keep opportunities on such a tour; one good week is far from guaranteeing an entire season.
Yellamaraju’s career breakthrough happened early in 2025.
First Professional Win: Bahamas Great Abaco Classic
Yellamaraju was successful at the 2025 Bahamas Great Abaco Classic. He played at The Abaco Club and became the winner of the first tournament, finishing the event at 25-under-par with a five-stroke advantage.
It was a new career path for the young professional. He proved to the world that he was able not only to qualify or be in contention but also win tournaments and close them with success. Points earned by him in the Bahamas will help the young professional in the future when he will try to join the PGA Tour.
At the end of the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season, Yellamaraju finished the year in 19th place of the points list; he received a PGA Tour card for the next season.
Rookie Season on the PGA Tour in 2026

Playing Style and What Makes Him Different
Perhaps the most discussed aspect of Yellamaraju’s game is not any particular club but rather the method through which he learned how to swing. He did not grow up in an environment where golf is a common activity that can be learned at a specialized academy or school of any sort. Instead, he learned it through observing, practice, competition, and deduction.
It is not to say that he found a formula for learning to play golf that all others should try and emulate. Every golfer requires different types of instructions in order to learn and excel in his or her game.
What his life does demonstrate is that there are other ways to enter into professional golf.
In addition to his interesting origin story, Yellamaraju’s performance also speaks louder than the background itself. In order to win a Korn Ferry Tour event and to finish in the top five in The Players, one must have the capability of playing under pressure.
Earnings and Net Worth
The total tournament winnings of Yellamaraju do not equal his net worth. According to published PGA Tour statistics, he won approximately $2.63 million in the 2026 season. The total prize money is based on the tournament performances and it does not constitute his personal net worth nor his assets.
Professional golfers incur many expenses during their careers, including costs related to traveling and caddies. They may also earn money from sponsorships although such specifics are often confidential.
For this reason, it is impossible to pinpoint an exact amount for the net worth of Sudarshan Yellamaraju. Any website that offers a definite figure on this matter is estimating it based on its sources of information but not confirming it.
