About Charleston Municipal Golf Course
The Charleston Municipal Golf Course is located at 2110 Maybank Highway in Charleston, South Carolina and caters to golfers of all ages and skill levels. The course is situated right in between the tranquil tidal marshes of the Stono River and the historical residential neighborhoods of Riverland Terrace; one of James Island’s oldest neighborhoods.
The course opened in 1929 thanks to the generosity of mostly C. Bissell Jenkins; a local businessman who donated 120 acres of land with the condition that the land must always be used for golf and to be accessible to the public. Since that time, the Muni has been the heart and soul of public golf in Charleston.
